(AP) ATLANTA Chris Kelly, half of the 1990s kid rap duo Kris Kross — who made one of the decade’s most memorable songs with the frenetic “Jump” — has died, and authorities say they are investigating his death as a possible drug overdose.
Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office said the 34-year-old Kelly was pronounced dead around 5 p.m. Wednesday at the south campus of the Atlanta Medical Center.
Cpl. Kay Lester of the Fulton County police said, “It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose.”

At least 45 people killed is the balance of a new round of executions, account settling, and clashes between criminal groups and security forces, according to police reports.
In Zacatecas, 14 members of Los Zetas and the Cartel del Golfo died in a confrontation. Both groups used assault weapons and grenades at various locations in the state capital’s metropolitan area, including Zacatecas City and the Guadalupe municipality.

MEXICO CITY — Hundreds of rescue workers ended their search for survivors on Friday at the site of an explosion that tore through an office building of Mexico’s state-owned oil company a day earlier, as the death toll rose to 33. The head of the company said early indications about the cause suggested that it was an accident.

MEXICO CITY (CBS) – An explosion at the office headquarters of Mexico’s state-owned oil company killed 25 people and injured 101 on Thursday as it heavily damaged three floors of a building, sending hundreds into the streets and a large plume of smoke over Mexico City’s skyline.
Rescuers continued to search the rubble for victims trapped in the debris late Thursday with the aid of rescue dogs, trucks with mounted lights and an oil company crane. Mexico City (CNN) — An explosion rocked the offices of Mexico’s state oil company Thursday, killing at least 14 people and injuring dozens more, officials said.
At least 100 people were injured in the Mexico City blast, Interior Minister Miguel Angel Osorio Chong told Foro TV.
Dozens of people were trapped in the building after the blast, Foro TV reported.
Osorio Chong said rescuers were searching for survivors in the basement of the office tower, which is one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers.

Although unauthorized border crossings are down to 40-year lows on the United States’ southern border, the deaths of migrants trying to reach the Promised Land are on the upswing in at least one section of the region. That’s according to Miguel Angel Isidro, Mexican counsel in Laredo, Texas. In remarks to the Mexican press, Isidro said 60 migrants have perished in the zone surrounding Laredo and its sister city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, so far this year.

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico — Guillermo Arévalo Pedroza was on the bank of the Rio Grande with his youngest daughter when the bullets started flying Monday night, his wife said. After he was hit, the 9-year-old girl wrapped her arms around him.
Nora Isabel Lam Gallegos, 26, said she, Arévalo, a 36-year-old construction worker, and their daughters Mariana and Priscilla, 10, had gone to a park on the river for a birthday celebration. She and her daughters’ birthdays fall close together, and they were having a barbecue, Lam said.
