SAN DIEGO — Eugenio Velazquez doesn’t fit the mold of the down-on-his luck, uneducated, underemployed courier who ferries drugs to the U.S. for Mexican drug cartels.

The dual citizen of the U.S. and Mexico belongs to Tijuana’s elite, equally at ease on both sides of the border. He lives in a modest, suburban San Diego neighborhood and had a flourishing career designing some of the Mexican border city’s most prominent buildings over the last decade, including its new main cathedral, an expansion of the Tijuana Cultural Center and the police headquarters.

Bodies of four men found hanging from a bridge in Saltillo

Saltillo. – Four men were found dead in one of the side bridges of the Sarape Distributor Road, east of Saltillo.

The discovery of the bodies immediately triggered the alert among the authorities who came to remove them.

The State Security spokesman, Sergio Sisbeles said the identities and the age are unknown.

The report was received at approximately 05:30 hours pointing out that four people were hanging from the bridge side of the roads connecting the Foundadores and Luis Echeverria boulevards, heading to the south.

The numbers are shocking.

At least 540 people executed for drugs in Iran in 2011.

At least 16 beheaded for drug-related offenses in Saudi Arabia in the first six months of 2012.

And thousands more languishing on death row awaiting a possible beheading, firing squad, lethal injection, or hanging. Many of them low-level mules, conned, coerced, or manipulated into carrying drugs into countries that retain capital punishment for drugs.
