Guadalajara – The State of Jalisco Secretary of Tourism, José de Jesús Gallegos Álvarez, was killed at about 3:00 p.m. today in the suburban community of Zapopan.

He was shot at the intersection of Acueducto and Avenida Patria. Several suspects have been detained.

He was appointed by the new Jalisco governor two weeks ago.

A Venezuelan model was found dead in Jalisco, a state in western Mexico, nearly a week after she went missing, state prosecutors told Efe Wednesday.

Daisy Yenire Ferrer Arenas’s body was discovered Tuesday in a canal to the east of Guadalajara, Jalisco’s capital, following an anonymous tip, spokesmen for the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office said.

The young woman, aged 25-30 and identified by the Mexican residence card found near her body, bore gunshot wounds to the head.
